Analysis of the Main Causes of Death and Potential Life Lost of Residents in Xiangcheng District of Suzhou in 2012

OBJECTIVE To analyze the causes of death and potential yesrs of life lost(PYLL) for the registered residents in Xiangcheng district of Suzhou in 2012.METHODS Date of the cases were sorted and analyzed according to ICD-10,and the PYLL for people whose age ranges between 1~69 was calculated with DeathReg 2005.RESULTS Total death rate was 670.97/100 000 for the registered residents in Xiangcheng District of Suzhou with male higher than female.The sequence of death causes was malignancies,circulatory system disease,disorders of respiratory system,injury and poisoning and other diseases.The sequence of PYLL is different from death causes,with malignancies,injury and poisoning,cerebrovascular disease,originated in perinatal some cases and congenital malformation,degeneration or chromosomal abnormalities.According to the PYLL relative ratios,the five leading causes of death are some cases originated in the perinatal period,congenital malformation,degeneration or chromosomal abnormalities,nervous system disorders,injury and poisoning,and malignancies.CONCLUSION The leading causes of death for urban residents in Xiangcheng District are malignancies,circulatory system disease,disorders of respiratory system,injury and poisoning and other diseases.The main diseases that cause early death are injury,poisoning and nervous system disorders.
