Abstract

Objective:To study the relationship between the circadian variation of blood pressure and left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with essential hypertension and its clinical significance. Methods: 65 cases of essential hypertension were monitored for circadian blood pressure and examined for echocardiography to identify and compare the circadian variation of blood pressure, the thickness of ventricular interlar, inner diameter of left ventricle in the diastolic telophase, the thickness of rear wall of the left ventricle and weight of the left ventricle. Results: In comparison with dipper hypertension group, the non-dipper hypertension group had higher thickness of left ventricle, and higher 24h average systolic blood pressure,night-time systolic blood pressure, and lowest sleeping blood pressure. Conclusion: The night-time blood pressure level and blood pressure circadian rhythm play an important role in the occurrence and development of left ventricle thickness.
