Abstract
Objective To evaluate the relationship between angiogenesis and biological character of pancreatic carcinoma (PC). Methods Microvessel density (MVD) in 55 cases of PC were examined by use of immunohistochemical staining, and compared with the pathological features of PC. Results Mean MVD of PC was 54.8±18.6. MVD was positively correlated with tumor cell differentiation (P0.05), TNM stages (P0.05), and lymph node metastasis (P0.01). Follow-up data suggested that postoperative survival time was significantly shorter in PC patients with high MVD than that in patients with low MVD .Conclusions Angiogenesis is highly related to the malignant degree of PC. MVD is one of the predictors for the biological behavior of PC.
