Abstract
Objectives: To explore AIDS-related knowledge and drug characteristics among male addicts under coercive drug rehabilitation in Dali Labor Education Station.Methods: By cluster random sampling,350 questionnaires of drug addicts in Dali Labor Education Station about demographic characteristics,behaviour and AIDS-related knowledge were analyzed.Results: The number of survey collected was 339.Among the addicts,the youngest was 16 years old,and the oldest was 60,the average age was33.34±7.34.The educational backgrounds of the addicts under coercive drug rehabilitation mainly were elementary school(31.6%) and junior high school(51.0%).The average length of drug addiction was 8.94±6.42 year,with the shortest of 6 months and the longest of 43 years.56.3% of addicts were simple oral dug,26.8% of addicts were intravenous drug with sharing syringes.Compared to TV programs,newspapers and books and other resources,their HIV/AIDS-related knowledge were largely obtained from the train course in Labor Education Station.76% of adicts knew how to prevent from HIV/AIDS infection.Conclusion: It is vital to take comprehensive measures to improve HIV/AIDS-related knowledge education in the drug addiction population in order to reduce HIV infection.
