Abstract

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of sixteen-slides spiral computed tomography angiography (CTA) for the assessment of coronary artery disease. Methods:Both sixteen-slide spiral CTA and conventional coronary angiography (CAG) were performed in 40 patients who were suspected of having coronary artery disease. Results: Among 76 main coronary artery lesions detected by CTA, 67 were confirmed by CAG. There were 75 mormal main coronary artery shown by both CTA and CAG. Therefore, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of CTA were 84. 8%,89. 3% , 88. 2%,and 86. 2%, respectively. Conclusions:This study suggests that non-invasive coronary angiography with sixteen-slides spiral computed tomography may be used as a reliable diagnostic tool for coronary artery disease.
