Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of percutaneous ethanol and iodic oil injection therapy(PEIT) combined with transcatheter hepatic arterial chemoembolization(TACE) in treating hypovascular liver cancer. Methods 64 patients who were diagnosed as hypovascular liver cancer by liver biopsy and 3 stages spiral CT scanning were divided into 2 groups: group TACE + PEII(34 cases),treated with TACE and then followed by ultrasound-guided PEII,group TACE(30 cases) treated with TACE.Results After treatments,half-year,1-year and 2-year survival rates of group TACE + PEII and group TACE were 88.2%,44.4%;63.3%,42.1%;60%,25.1%,recent efficacy rate was 73.5% and 43.4%,respectively,and there were significant statistical differences between two groups(P0.01).Conclusion The combination of PEII and TACE therapy for hypovascular liver cancer is a effective and safe modality, and it was better than using TACE only.
