Abstract

Objective: To discuss the loss of PTEN,relationships between expressions of PTEN,HIF-1α,VEGF,and some clinical factors in astrocytoma. Methods: Using RT-PCR to detect the loss of PTEN gene;En Vision immunohistochemical method was used to dekct the expression of PTEN,HIF-1α and VEGF proteins in astrocytomas. Results: The loss rate of PTEN is 12.5%(4/32),which all belong to the fourth grade. The positive rates of PTEN,HIF-1α and VEGF in astrocytomas are different, and have close correlations with the malignant levels.PTEN has negative correlations with HIF-1α and VEGF,HIF-1α and VEGF have a positive correlation. Conclusions: PTEN involves into the malignant process of astrocytoma through the effects on HIF-1α and VEGF.HIF-1α and VEGF play a role in the malignant process,HIF-1α is a regulative factor to VEGF. The three affect on each other and effort the malignant process especial the angiogenesis.
