Hunan gentry was a special and typical social class in modern history of China with special background, complex constitution, slow disintegration, distinct characteristics, wide range and long-term social influence. It not only influenced the government situation and vicissitude of society directly, but also resulted in the gradual destruction of the regime of Qing Dynasty and the continual transformation of the systems of Qing government.
