Polyphony in metafiction

Abstract

Through analyzing metafiction with M.M. Bakhtin's theory of polyphony, the author holds that metafiction exists in the borderline territory between fiction and criticism as well as between art and real life. Metafiction itself is the outcome of the dialogic communication between art and real life. The essay is an attempt to provide a new approach to metafiction analysis.
