Abstract
Metafiction is a revelation of the artificiality of fiction and this artificiality is indispensable with reality. In light of the metafiction theory, this article analyses the aesthetical value of Doris Lessing's The Golden Notebook as revealed in the language of the novel and the way it deals with the relation between artificiality and reality.
