Complications associated with TVT operation in female stress urinary incontinence:a report of 8 cases

Abstract

Objective To improve the ability of diagnosis and management for complications in patients with tension free vaginal tape(TVT) procedure.Methods During May,2002 to August,2006 66 consecutive patients were performed TVT procedure.The intraoperative or postoperative complications associated with the TVT procedure including vesical perforation(2 cases),vaginal hematoma(1 case),vesical calculi(2 cases),dysuria(2 cases) and vaginal erosion(1 case) were found.The symptoms,signs,diagnoses and procedures of these patients were reviewed.Results In all cases the complications were cured and followed up for 6 months.The results were satisfactory,no urinary incontinence,dysuria and reoccurred urethral pain were found.Conclusion It is demonstrated that urologists should be aware of the symptoms of tape related complications associated with TVT procedure and improve the ability of prompt diagnosis and appropriate intraoperative or postoperative management.
