Influence of External Window on Building Energy Consumption in Cold Regions

Abstract

The paper chiefly studies the influence of external window on residential building energy consumption taking the cold regions as example from energy-saving.There are many factors affecting the external window's energy-saving, as example,window-wall ratio,combination mode of window frame and glass,the material of window frame,the performance of glass etc.The author researches the relation of external window and building energy consumption by analyzing the above four aspects respectively.The results of simulation indicate that limiting the north window-wall ratio or the transmeridional window-wall ratio can reduce building energy consumption,and that the south window-wall ratio would not be too large;that the effect of combination mode of window flame and glass to building energy consumption is also very big,so the double glass and plastic-steel frame window or the double-layer windowpane take on applicability in cold regions;that the difference of window frame material effect on summer refrigeration energy consumption to some extent,but not very seriously;that the improvement of glass performance can largely reduce building energy consumption.In conclusion,the improvement of the window-wall ratio,the combination mode of window frame and glass,the material of window frame,the performance of glass can reduce building energy consumption in cold regions.
