Expression of CD44v6 and the Relationship of Prognosis in Human Gastric Carcinoma

Abstract

Objective:The aim of this study is to observe the expression of CD44v6 in gastric carcinoma and analysis the relationship of prognosis between CD44v6 expression and metastases in gastric carcinoma preliminarily.Methods:From 2006 to 2008,49 patients with gastric carcinoma were studied.The expression of CD44v6 in gastric carcinoma was determined by immunohistochemistry.Results: 49 cases of gastric carcinoma in patients position rate of CD44v6 was 55.10%(27/49).Using standard chemotherapy regimen for CD44v6+ and CD44v6-groups,the rate of clinical efficient was 31.82%(7/22) and 22.22%(6/27) respectively.There was significant difference between two groups(P0.05).Conclusions: Cell adhesion molecule CD44v6 is highly expressed in gastric carcinoma.CD44v6 expression is correlated with a poor prognosis in gastric carcinoma.CD44v6 can,therefore,be utilized as a prognostic marker for this group of patients.
