Abstract
Objective To investigate the change and clinical significance of α-granule membrane protein (GMP-140) and mean platelet volume (MPV) in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).Methods The level of GMP-140 and MPV in 32 patients with active UC,25 patients with remissive UC and 30 normal controls were detected by ELISA technique and auto-blood analysis tester respectively. At the same time, the degree of severity of patients with active UC was evaluated. Results Compared with the normal controls and patients with remissive UC,the level of GMP-140 and MPV in patients with active UC changed significantly (P0.01).Compared with the normal controls, the two indexes in patients with remissive UC changed markedly also (P0.05).The two indexes presented markedly a tight correlation with the activity and degree of severity of UC.Conclusions The activated small volume platelets is a character of UC.The level of GMP-140 and MPV are valuable indexes in the evaluation of activity and degree of severity of UC.
