Inter-ethnic Interactions as Viewed by Ethnic Minority University Students in Xinjiang

Xinjiang is an area where ethnic minorities live in compact communities,and the friendly inter-ethnic interaction are significant for its stability and development.The in-depth interviews with ethnic minority university students reveals the status of inter-ethnic interactions and their attitudes to the factors influencing inter-ethnic interactions,which may be used as references for student education work.In their views,ethnic group attributes are not the factor,i.e.,they are willing to make friends with other ethnic group,especially the Han classmates.But the social environment and the religious issues force them to be prudent in issues of marriage or love with other ethnic groups.They support actively all kinds of measures which are in favor of inter-ethnic interactions and oppose barriers to inter-ethnic interactions.
