Abstract
Objective To investigate correlation of current syphilis infection rate among female sex workers(FSW)with reported incidence of syphilis in Wuhu city,so as to provide evidence for epidemic control. Conclusion The syphilis infection rate of FSW from the national acquired immune deficiency syndrome sentinel surveillance program and the syphilis infection rate reported by disease monitoring information management system were analyzed to investigate their correlation. Results There were 3512FSWs observed by sentinel surveillance in nine years. The rate syphilis infection in each year was 0.54%,2.78%,3.55%,3.67%,2.74%,3.88%,6.25%,9.63% and4.51%,respectively.Local syphilis reported incidence increased from 12.42/100 000in 2004to 54.89/100 000in2012.There was a simple linear regression correlation between syphilis infection of FSW and local syphilis infection among female population or all population, the regression equation was^y=19.07+5.89x(F=8.535,P=0.022)and^y=20.88+4.66x(F=7.117,P=0.032),respectively.Conclusion The current syphilis infection rate in FSWs has certain correlation with local syphilis infection. We should strengthen behavior intervention among this population. It is suggested to find and treat the syphilis in time using rapid screening tests,so as to reduce the syphilis infection rate and achieve the purpose of controlling syphilis incidence in local people.
