Analysis of the results of Syphilis Infection in 3939 Prostitutes

Abstract

ve To investigate status of syphilis infection in 3939 prostitutes in Hainan Provincial Woman Education Centre from 1992 to 2000 and provide basis for formulating STD/AIDS prevention and control strategies. Methods ①Rapid plasma reagin circle card test (RPR). ②Treponema pallidum particle assay (TP-PA) . ③Mycroscopy enamination of syphilis boreliosis under darkness. Results The positive rate of syphilis was 10.81% (426/3939) .Among 426 positive cases, 15 cases were primary syphilis with a rate of 3.52% (15/426) , 79 were secondary syphilis with a rate of 18.54% (79/426), 332 were early latent syphilis a ccounted for 77. 93 % (332/426). Conclusion The results showed that the incidence of syphilis in prostitute group was quite high, and health education programs be strengthened for the control of syphilis in prostitutes.
