Abstract

Objective To discuss the TCM syndrome evolution law of the large and small cerebral artery disease in the acute stage of ischemic stroke. Methods According to the differentiation diagnostic criterion of Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment(TOAST) with imageology,207 cases with acute ischemic stroke were divided into a large cerebral artery disease group(Group L,n=87) and a small cerebral artery disease group(Group S,n=120).The incidence rates of stroke for each TCM syndrome were dynamically compared in two groups. Results The incidence rates for syndromes of fire, phlegm and blood stasis in the Group L were higher than those in the Group S,which had significant difference(P 0.05).The incidence rates of Group L were first increased and then decreased, while of Group S were decreased first, then increased and decreased again. The peak of dynamic evolution of incidence rates for other five syndromes was at the 3rd to 7th days after the onset of disease, except the syndrome of yin deficiency and yang excess, that of which was at the 7th to 14th days(P 0.05).Conclusion There is difference in TCM syndrome evolution law between the large and small cerebral artery disease in the acute stage of ischemic stroke.
