Xu Kai was the first scholar to make a systematic and all-round research on Interpretation of Culture and Character by means of Serial Interpretation of Culture and Character in its research history. His research involved the sound, form and meaning of Chinese character as well as its diverse cultural information in the course of form interpretation or meaning interpretation. Xu Kai's interpretation not only covered a wide range of subjects but also conveyed concentrated and various connotations.
