Abstract
Cognitive context is a psychological construct,which retlects human s dominant role.The production of pragmatic meaning is a process in which cognitive subject constantly constructs and infers cognitive context.On the basis of Relevance Theory,this paper will analyze the pragmatic meaning of directives from the perspective of cognitive context,and respectively probe into the functions of cognitive context to pragmatic meaning from the aspects of the speaker and the listener.
