Expression of P73 and c-Abl proteins in ovarian carcinomas and its clinical significance

Objective To investigate the expressions of P73 and c-Abl in ovarian tumors and the relationship of the expressions with the development of ovarian tumors.Methods The expressions of P73 and c-Abl proteins in 61 cases of malignant ovarian tumor,28 cases of borderline ovarian tumor and 30 cases of benign ovarian cancer was analyzed with immunohistochemisty technique.Results There were obvious differences of P73 expression among the three groups(P0.01),the expression were gradually higher in order of benign ovarian tumor,borderline ovarian tumor and malignant ovarian tumor.The expression of P73 was correlated with the differentiation of malignant ovarian tumor and it had higher expression in cases of lower differentiation(P0.05).As P73 being negative,the survival time of patients were much longer(P0.01).Expressions of c-Abl were obvious different among benign ovarian tumor,borderline ovarian tumor and malignant ovarian tumor(P0.01),and high in ovarian cancer.P73 expression had positive correlation with c-Abl expression(P0.01).Conclusion p73 gene is involved in the development of ovarian cancer,the over expression of P73 is related with the expression of c-Abl.The intensity of P73 expression represents the grade of ovarian cancer,it is an important parameter for estimating biological behavior of tumor and a predictable factor in diagnosing ovarian cancer.
