From Horseback to Oxback——Cultural Vicissitudes in the Folk Narration among the Mongolian People in Yunnan Province

The Yuan dynasty witnessed several cultural vicissitudes of historic significance of the Mongolian Ethnic Group in Yunnan. The still-prevalent folk narrative texts reflect a collective image of the Mongolian people migrating from the north to the south,changing from shepherds and warriors to fishermen,potters,plasterers and farmers,fully demonstrating the historical process of this armed ethnic group being conquered by civilization.
