The Geographic Distribution and Floristic Analysis of the Endangered Plants in Southwest China

Based on the first volume of Red book of Chinese plants, there are 52 endangered plant species of 41 genera in 28 families (exclude vulnerable or threatened plants and rare plants) in Southwest China. The growth type, distribution patterns, and floristic features of those 52 species are studied . The main results show as the following. (1) From the analysis of the generic distribution of 37 genera of the endangered seed plants of SW China, we know that 16 genera are of tropical distribution which makes up 43.3% of the total generic number of the endangered plant, 19 genera are of temperate distribution which accounts for 51.4 %, 2 genera are of endemic distribution to China of which there is only one genus endemic to SW China. (2) From the analysis of the geographic distribution of endangered plant species of SW China, 33 species are endemic to SW China, which makes up 63.5% of the total number of the ebdangered plant species in this region. (3) SW China extends the only two floristic areas of China. The floristic elements of the endangered plants here are complicated.
