Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of different duration and frequency of swimming on endothelin-1 and Endothelin-1 receptor in renal tissue in aged rats. The subjects are 2 and 9~10 month old rats divided into 8 groups randomly, that is sedentary control group, one hour exercise group (six days per week),two hour exercise group (six days per week),0ne hour exercise (three days per week).ET-1 protein in renal tissue is determined by radioimmunoassay. The concentration of ETA-R in renal tissue is measured by ELISA.The level of SOD,MDA is determined. The result shows that with the age increasing, the concentration of ET-1 in renal tissues increases significantly ( P0.01 ),but that of ETA-R reduces significantly, and SOD/MDA has no change significantly.Comparing with control group, the concentration of ET-1 in renal tissue has no change significantly for six months swimming training rats, but reduces significantly in 13~14 month rats ( P0.01 ).ET-1 decreases lower in swimming 6 days per week than 3 days per week.Swimming training does not affect the concentration of ETR-R in renal tissue. With the increasing of age,the concentration of ET-1 in renal tissue increase significantly, while that of ETA-R reduces significantly.Swimming training can reduce renal ET-1 level.Swimming training does not have any effect on ETA-R level. There is no cause-effect relation among ET-1,ETA-R level and SOD/MDA.
