Abstract
Objective To investigate the isolation, culture, proliferation and differentiation of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) from rat circulating blood in vitro. Methods EPC separation was performed by rat peripheral blood, isolated cells were cultured in dishes coated with VEGF and bFGF, the expression of cell markers was assessed using immunohistochemistry. Results Attached spindle like cells appeared after 4 days culture and formed cord like structure by 14 days. These cells can Express endothelial specific markers. Conclusion EPCs can be obtained from mononuclear cells in rat peripheral blood and be differentiated into endothelial cells in vitro.
