Abstract
[Purpose] To explore difference of expression of PCNA, bcl-2 and p53 proteins among breast carcinoma, para-carcinoma tissue and normal breast tissue and its value in development of breast carcinoma. [Method] PCNA, bcl-2 and p53 proteins in carcinoma tissue and para-carcinoma tissue in 46 patients with breast cancer and in 33 samples of normal breast tissue were detected by immunohistochemical S-P method. [Results] ①PCNA-PI showed no significant difference between breast carcinoma and para-carcinoma tissue (P0.05), but significant differences were found between breast carcinoma and the normal breast tissue (46.03±8.76 vs. 32.13±6.78), and between para-carcinoma tissue and the normal breast tissue (42.90±7.92 vs. 32.13±6.78, P0.01). ②The expression score of bcl-2 was 0.62±0.47 in breast carcinoma, 0.91±0.58 in para-carcinoma tissue and 1.56±0.84 in normal breast tissue, with a increasing trend from cancer to normal tissue. ③The expression score of p53 was 2.21±0.96, 1.86±0.87 and 0.87±0.57 in breast carcinoma tissue, para-carcinoma tissue and the normal breast tissue, with a decreasing trend from cancer to normal tissue. ④PCNA-PI showed moderately negative correlation with bcl-2 (rs=-0.537) and moderately positive correlation with p53 (rs=0.628), and bcl-2, moderately negative correlation with p53 (rs=-0.476) in breast carcinoma tissue. [Conclusion] Increases of PCNA and p53, decrease of bcl-2 predict the tissue malignant potential during occurrence and development of breast carcinoma, which play an important role for diagnosis and prognosis.
