Abstract
Objective:To analyze the oral hygiene and periodontal health status of middle aged and elderly people in Liaoning province through epidemiology investigation methods.Methods:113persons over 46years old were randomly selected in Liaoning province and filled in the questionnaire after periodontal specialist checking.Results:The oral hygiene of female was better than male(P0.05).But the periodontal health showed no significant difference between them.The oral hygiene of smokers was worse than non-smokers(P0.01).The oral hygiene between 46-59years old group and over 60years old group showed no significant difference,but the CAL of former group was less than the latter(P0.05).Conclusion:The middle aged and elderly people may have generally poor oral hygiene and different degree of periodontitis.It is necessary to give them oral health education from a variety of ways and to give them periodontal therapy as early as possible.
