Abstract

In order to utilize CO2 fixed in ethylene carbonate and extend the method of synthesizing diphenyl carbonate, the thermodynamic analysis of the transesterification of ethylene carbonate to diphenyl carbonate was studied. The effects of different catalysts, reaction temperature, catalyst mass fraction and reaction time on the synthesis of diphenyl carbonate were also investigated. The results show that the transesterification of ethylene carbonate with phenol is infeasible in terms of thermodynamics, but diphenyl carbonate can be synthesized from the transesterification of ethylene carbonate and phenyl acetate after phenol is acetylated.Among various catalysts,n-Bu2SnO exhibits the highest transesterification selectivity. When the reaction is carried out under the conditions of 190 ℃,molar ratio of ethylene carbonate to phenyl acetate 1∶2,n-Bu2SnO mass fraction 8% and reaction time 10 h,the conversion of ethylene carbonate is 15.1%,the transesterification selectivity and yield of diphenyl carbonate are 64.2% and 7.5%,respectively.
