Advance in the Detection of Circulating Tumour Cells in Patients with Breast Cancer

Abstract
Hematogenous dissemination is an important route for breast cancer metastasis.Detection of axillary lymph nodes alone is not enough to accurately determine whether patients with breast cancer develop carcinomatous metastasis.Tumor cells entry into circulation system is the critical step for cancer distant metastasis.The detection of circulating breast cancer cells may contribute to judging prognosis,guiding to treatments and monitoring the therapeutic efficacy.This review will be mainly concerned with the circulating breast cancer cells as well as relevant detection methodology.
