Abstract

Objective To explore the regulatory effects of arsenic trioxide on proliferation and apoptosis of ovarian cancer cell strain 3AO in vitro . Methods Ovarian cancer cell strain 3AO was cultured in vitro .Test group was cultured with arsenic trioxide in different concentrations:0 5, 1 0, 2 0, 4 0 and 8 0 μmol/L.The control group was cultured without arsenic trioxide.Cell proliferation inhibited rate was measured by MTT colorimetric assay(MTT). Cell cycle and apoptosis percentage was detected by flow cytometry(FCM). Results Arsenic trioxide inhibited 3AO cell growth significantly in dose dependent and time dependent manners ( P 0 01).The apoptosis percentage of the 3AO cell induced by arsenic trioxide was enhanced in dose and time ( P 0 01). After treatment with arsenic trioxide,3AO cell S phase was arrested. Conclusion Arsenic trioxide can inhibit the proliferation of epithelial ovarian cancer cells, induce their apoptosis, and make their S phase arrested.
