Abstract
Objective:To explore the efficacy of comprehensive treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy complicated with secretory otitis media. Methods:32 patients of nasopharyngeal carcinoma after radiotherapy complicated with secretory otitis media, which there were 38 ears in total, were given the comprehensive treatment and retrospective analysis. Results:In the 38 ears of secretory otitis media,26 ears were cured, the cured rate was 68.42%(26/38). 12 ears were uncured, the uncured rate was 31.57% (12/38). 7 ears complicated with acute suppurative otitis media in the 12 uncured ears,4 ears had been healing with otopiesis and slight conductive deafness,3 ears had been dry perforation, the thickening mucosa of tympanic cavity and mixed deafness,by the effect of anti-inflammatory treatment. Sensorineural deafness in 3 cases 5 ears,in despite of auripuncture and tympanotomy tube insertion had been done. Conclusion:The prevention of hearing loss in patients of secretory otitis media cause by radiation injury, should mainly given the drug treatment and tympanocentesis in early period, and better given the tympanotomy tube insertion in later period.
