The Academic Criticisms in Ye Shi's Xixuejiyanxumu

Abstract

Xixuejiyanxumu, which was written by Ye Shi, was an important academic work in the South Song Dynasty. In this work, Ye Shi made comments on The Book of Changes, The Great Learning and some historical works. He criticized the theory of DaoTong(道统) in Neo Confucianism. His comments were quite different from the viewpoints of Neo Confucianism. It showed that there were different directions in the development of Confucianism.
