Abstract

Objective To study the effectiveness of iodoform paste and Vitapex paste in apexification of young permanent teeth. Methods Fourty-seven young permanent teeth with acute/chronic pulpitis and apical peridontitis without previous treatment were selected. After access to the root canals and complete removal of the pulp, canal preparation was then carried out.The 47 young permanent teeth were assigned to either of two apexification groups: group A(n=25) with iodoform paste or group B(n=22) with Vitapex paste. All cases were reviewed up to 24 months. Results The use of iodform paste for apexification is successful in 64.0% of group A,and Vitapex paste in 81.8% of group B.Conclusion Vitapex paste has better effectivenes for apexification in young permanent teeth.
