On the Rise of the Destiny Novels in the Tang Dynasty

Abstract

The Pre-Tang concept of destiny and the spreading of destiny stories in the Tang Dynasty lay ideological foundation for the formation of the destiny novel,the fate of the Tang Dynasty scholars provides the source of subject matter.Some scholars with social responsibility also write for utilitarian purpose,so they collect,organize,rewrite the circulating destiny stories of the time,the destiny novels,therefore,gain popularity.
