Lyrism and May-4th Short Stories

Confronted with the cruel social reality,the writers in the May-4th movement chose emotional narration as a momposition were largely put to use in short-story writing.Based on different personal experiences and motivations,these short stories were imbued with various expressions and characteristics,and the best representation was lyrical short story of different types:that of Yu Da-fu's subjective catharsis,of Lu Yin's diaries and personal correspondences,of Lu Xun's short notes,and Fei Ming's idyllic impressionism,to name some.With lyricism involved,short-story writing went away from its tradition of pure narration.
