Abstract

[Objective]To observe the levels of serum SOD and GSH-Px in silicosis patients and dust-exposed workers, and explore the role of SOD and GSH-Px in the development of silicosis [Methods]Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and chemical colorimetric technique were adopted to detect serum SOD,GSH-Px levels of 100 workers without dust exposure(control group),200 workers exposed to silica dust for more than 1 year(exposure group),32 suspected silica dust patients(observing group) and 130 silicosis patients(silicosis group). [Results]Serum SOD level in exposure group and silicosis group was significantly lower than that in control group, the difference between silicosis group and control group was significant(P0.05).The serum GSH-Px level in silicosis group was significantly higher than that of control group and exposure group(P0.01).The GSH-Px level was positively correlated with the stage of silicosis. [Conclusion]Serum SOD and GSH-Px levels are obviously correlates with silicosis,as well as the severity of silicosis which indicates that the imbalance between oxidation and anti-oxidation system is related with the development of silicosis.
