The Dragon Dance:Traditional Culture Carrier and Value Identification

By adopting the methods of literature review and logical analysis,the thesis studied the origins and symbolic features of dragon dance.The thesis pointed out the dragon dance originated from the ancient agrarian society,and to be specific,it is the rain ritual deriving the dragon dance which had close connection to the totemism.Dragon dance,as the primitive cultural symbol,manifested the indication of prosperous offspring and people's pursuit for vitality.As an ancient agrarian cultural relic,dragon dance symbolized the blessings.As people's emotion expression form,dragon dance is a happiness sign.As the propitious embodiment in traditional senses,dragon dance has been a ceremony.As the carrier for common emotion of Chinese people,dragon dance is the essence interpreting and the upholding of traditional Chinese cultural,as well as the important carrier of national unity.Therefore,dragon dance has been a widely recognized cultural symbol which reflects the high cultural self-consciousness.
