On the Dialectic Relationship between Competitive Dragon Dance and Folk Dragon Dance

Folk dragon dance has been part of the dragon culture in China for quite a long history.The schematization and formalization of it has become the competitive dragon dance in today's society.Between the two,there exists a dialectic relationship of mutual influence——a relationship of the latter's inheritance from the former or the former's restricting the development of the latter.Folk dragon dance is most suitable to be held at schools,enterprises and local communities.To boom competitive dragon dance in the industrial and post industrial society,we must examine and interpret the dragon culture from the perspective of globalization.This paper concludes that the base of modern dragon culture is coexistence of differences and happiness of mankind,development of society and harmony between man and nature.If recognized as a culture,dragon dance of our nation will also be accepted and welcomed by the world.
