Comparisons of the Curative Effect between two Treatment Methods for Secretory Otitis Media

Objective To evaluate the curative effect of the treatment that eustachian tube insertion under nasal endoscope in treating the secretory otitis media,and to analysis the relation between the pharynx orifice of the eustachian tube and the secretory otitis media. Method There were 73 patients (88 ears) which were randomly allocated into two groups:the insertion group and the control group were each treated by different methods: eustachian tube insertion under nasal endoscope and eustachian tube blowing.All patients were followed up by the end of the third months after operation, and the effect was evaluated. Result The insertion group:17ears (37.8%) were cured,21 ears (46.6%) were straight-ened up,The total efficiency rate was 84.4%. The control group: 8 ears (18.6%) were cured, 22 ears (51. 2%) were straightened up, the total efficiency rate was 69.8%. There are significant difference between two groups after treatment (P0.05). Conclusion Eustachian tube insertion under nasal endoscope is simple and safe,and it has a tiny wound and a good curative effect.It is a good way for treating the secretory otitis media. The pharynx orifice of the eustachian tube can be separated into five types,and it has consanguineous relations to the secretory otitis media.
