Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore and assess the therapeutic effect of eustachian catheteration and intratympanic application of medicine through the eustachian tube on secretory otitis media. METHODS A catheter was inserted into the tympanum through the eustachian tube under nasal endoscope and medicine was injected through the catheter. It was pulled out 10 days after recovered. RESULTS This procedure was performed on 21 ears. Eighteen ears(85.7 %) were cured after catheteration once and the remaining 3 ears(14.3 %) were cured after catheteration twice. CONCLUSION Eustachian catheteration is a safe, easy and effective method to treatment of secretory otitis media.
