Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between atrial fibrillation(AF) and oxidative stress. Methods Forty-two of in-patients who were operated for valve replacement served as the subjects of this study; The AF group was composed of 22 AF patients and the control group was composed of 20 patients with sinus rhythm.Atrial muscle samples of all subjects were examined pathologically for morphology characteristics.Serum heat-shock-protein 60(HSP60) expression levels were detected by means of immuno-histo-chemistry,and C-reactive protein(CRP) levels were detected as well by means of latex-enhanced immuno-turbidimetry.Results Degree of hypertrophy of the atrial myocytes and pathyfibrosis looked more obviously in AF group, than that in control group. The positive rate of serum HSP-60 expression in AF group was significantly higher than that in control group;the gray degree of HSP-60 in AF group was significantly lower than that in control group. The mean level of serum CRP in AF group was significantly higher than that in control group(all P0.05).Conclusion Oxidative stress might be closely related to atrial fibrillation.
