Abstract
Objective To analyze implementation of TB control project in Shandong during 1992~2001 and provide scientific evidence for sustainable development and prevention strategy of TB assessment froms. Methods To analyze the data of surveillance and project ending evaluation survey in the end. Results 1 305 741 suspicious cases were checked in free. 196 530 pulmonary tuberculosis cases were notified, in which 143 513 cases were smear positive. The new registered rate of smear positive cases increased from 5.8/100 000 before 1992 to average 17.2/100 000 during 1992~2001. The proportion between initial treatment and retreatment cases decreased from 44.8% to 24.7%. By the end of 2001, the average cure rate of new smear positive cases and in retreatment cases were 95.1% and 90.9%, respectively. 91% smear positive cases were under DOTS. The staff specialized in TB control increased 27.3%. Conclusions The project achieved great social benefits and economic benefits.
