Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the relationship between expressions HIF-1α and MMP-9,angiogenesis and peritumorous brain edema of gliomas.METHODS:The expressions of HIF-1α,MMP-9 and CD-34-related antigen were evaluated by immunohistochemical technique in the samples of 40 gliomas and 10 control tissues,MRI was used for the content of peritumorous edema.RESULTS:Emicrovascular density(MVD)was 18.45±4.23 per vision in HIF-1αnegative group and 45.23±18.56 in HIF-1αpositive group.there was a difference between them(P0.05);Emicrovascular density(MVD)was 12.40±2.62 per vision in MMP-9 negative group and 36.40±22.21 in MMP-9 positive group.there was a difference between them(P0.05);The edema index(EI)was larger in HIF-1α positive cases than in negative ones(P0.05);The edema index(EI)was larger in MMP-9 positive cases than in negative ones(P0.05);The semi-quantitative scale of HIF-1α,MMP-9 was correlated with the volume of peritumorous edema.CONCLUSIONS:HIF-1α,MMP-9 produced by gliomas contributes to the angiogenesis and the increased permeability of microvessel, which closely corelates with the growth and development of gliomas.HIF-1α,MMP-9 combined with MVD and EI is helpful in judging the prognosis, and makes a new way of treatment to gliomas.
