Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between NO and angiogenesis and peritumorous brain edema of gliomas.Method The expressions of iNOS and FactorⅧ-related antigen were evaluated by immunohistochemical technique in the samples of 40gliomas and10control tissues,MRI was used for the content of peritumorous edema.Result s①The microvascular density (MVD)was22.40±12.62per vision in iNOS negative group and36.90±22.21in iNOS positive group, there was a difference between them(P0.05);②The edema index(EI)was larger in iNOS positive cases than in negative ones(P0.05);③The semi -quantitative scale of iNOS was correlated with the volume of peritumorous edema. Conclusion NO produced by gliomas contributes to the angiogenesis and the increased permeability of microvessel, which closely correlates with the growth and development of gliomas.iNOS combined with MVD and EI is helpful in judging the prognosis, and opens up a new way of treatment to gliomas.
