Abstract

The Cheng brothers have creatively developed the ontological philosophy of the dao(道) and li(理),which includes the theories of Li-qi(理气),mind-nature(心性) and nourishing one's mind(涵养).Relatively,Cheng Hao is largely attitude-oriented and dao/tian li-macroscopic,Cheng Yi tends to be system-oriented and li-microscopic.
