Application of single trocar in maxillary sinus surgery under nasal endoscopy

Objective To investigate the application of single trocar in maxillary sinus surgery under nasal endoscopy.Methods One hundred and eighty patients with maxillary sinus disease were randomly divided into two groups.Ninety patients in group A were punctured from inferior nasal meatus and canine fossa with single trocar under nasal endoscopy,then,to cut away the pathological tissue of maxillary sinus.Ninety patients in group B were opened the natural ostium of maxillary and cut away the pathological tissue of maxillary sinus by Caldwell-Luc.Results Seventy-eight cases(86.7%) were cured in group A and 55 cases(61.1%) were cured in group B,the differece between the two gropus was statistical significance(χ2=211.2,P0.05).And the operation time,complication in group A had an obvious advantages than that in group B.Conclusion Application of single trocar in maxillary sinus surgery under nasal endoscopic provide another approach for surgery,simple operation,easy to learn,extend and apply.
