Abstract

Objective To investigate the vacuum sealing drainage(VSD) clinical curative effect of the treatment of acute infection in fracture fixation and joint replacement surgery. Methods 18 patients of fracture internal fixation and arthroplasty after acute infection, without removing internal fixation and arthroplasty implants, thorough debridement infected areas after using VSD material covering the internal surface,by vacuum sealing drainage,5 ~ 7 days a replacement VSD dressing, and pus culture 3 times were sterile growth after the closure of the wound. Results 18 cases of fracture internal fixation and arthroplasty patients with acute infection were cured by the replacement of 2 ~ 4 times VSD drainage treatment. Conclusions VSD drainage in the treatment of fracture fixation and arthroplasty after acute infection is effective, which can control the infection without removal of internal fixation of fractures and joint implants, and alleviate the suffering of patients, reduce patient's economy. It is safe, economic, simple, and effective.
