Abstract
Objective:To observe the clinical and pathological features of extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT lymphoma). Methods:Pathological and clinical data of 29 MALT lymphoma patients that was sent to Department of Pathology, the Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University during January,2000 and August,2010 were retrospectively analyzed by H﹠E staining and immunohistochemical staining assay. Results:Of the 29 cases,25 cases occurred at gastrointestinal tract, accounting for 78.13%,with non-specific clinical manifestations. There were 13 cases of gastric MALT lymphoma,of which 10 were complicated with Helicobacter pylori infection(10/13,76.92%).Other 3 of the left cases were orbit MALT lymphoma and 1 was thyroid MALT lymphoma.Microscopically, the tumor was mainly composed of small lymphocytes,in some cases accompanied by a few large cells and lymphoepithelial lesions.Expression of immunostaining CD20 and CD79a were positive in these tumor cells while that of CD5 and CD10 were negative. Conclusions:Gastrointestinal is the predilection site for MALT lymphoma, which shows the same morphological and immunophenotypic features regardless of where the tumor occurred.
