Value of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis

Abstract

Objective To explore the value of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibody in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods Serum anti-CCP was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in 151 patients. The sensitivity, specificity and predictability to RA of anti-CCP were compared with those of rheumatoid factor (RF). Results The sensitivity of anti-CCP and RF was 42.5% and 67.8% respectively. The sensitivity of RF was higher than that of anti-CCP (P0.05). The specificity of anti-CCP and RF was 97.4% and 78.7% respectively. The specificity of anti-CCP was higher than that of RF (P0.05). The predictability to RA of anti-CCP was higher than that of RF (P0.05). Conclusions Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody has high specificity and predictability, which might be used as a valuable parameter in the diagnosis of RA.
