Abstract
Objective:To explore the clinical significance of CD 4 expression in acute myelogenous leukemia.Methods:Immnophenotypic and cytogenetic features of blast cells in 82 acute myelogenous leukemia were analysed.Results:CD 4 was expressed in blasts from 40.2% of AML,incidence of CD 4 expression in each FAB subtype was also differet,CD 4 expression were signficantly more frequent in AML M 4、M 5(55%、92.9%,respectively).CD + 4 HLA DR high CD 38 high CD 33 high CD 15 high CD 14 high ,T、B cell markers were negative.AML cases with 11q23 and with inv(16),t(9,22) were frequently CD 4 positive.The clinical features of CD + 4AML and CD - 4AML were not significantly different.Conclusion:CD 4 expression in AML cells was associated with monocytic characteristics,CD 4 may be important to diagnose M 5.
